The Quran competitions had been held between 3 centres, namely: Jimba, Mwanjama and Chiferi.  To award the winners and recognize the participants, a ceremony was organized at Jimba on Sunday 11th October 2009.

Winner receiving prizeOn Sunday 11th October 2009, we paid a visit to Jimba.

During the month of Mahe Ramadhan, Quran competitions had been held between 3 centres, namely: Jimba, Mwanjama and Chiferi, and therefore this visit was mainly in recognition of the efforts made by the students.

Addressing the audienceThere were 31 participants of which 5 students took the first 3 positions and they were gifted with cooking stoves and school bags. The rest of the participants were gifted with consolation prizes being a school bag and water-bottle. The teacher’s in-charge were also gifted with wall clocks. Materialistically the gifts did bring happiness to the little participants but the satisfaction that we saw light upon their faces and happiness was more from the way they felt loved and cared for. These gifts however did motivate them to perform better in the future so that their parents could be made even more proud of their achievements.

Presenting Gifts to allThe ceremony was attended by more than 250 children & parents and they were all gifted with plastic bowls containing sweets and chocolates. The parents were urged to encourage the children to attend the madresahs regularly and to participate in the forthcoming Quran competition which is to be held in Mahe Muharram.

All in all, the ceremony was well organized by Maalim Msafir ( from Jimba). The happiness that came over these children was so overwhelming and it was moving to see them so excited; children who are deprived from basic necessities such as water.
