On Thursday 15th October 2009, we once again visited Ngonzini this time to bring into reality their most vital necessity – ‘water’!
Alhamdullilah after four years they were blessed with the much needed rainfall and to preserve the rain water, we got a water tank in place and attached a pipe that leads straight into the tank. This is a temporary fitting, though the permanent one will get fixed within a couple of days.
The roof is leaking and as you can tell from the pictures, the walls are getting ruined as well. In fact to fix this problem, we need to remove the Bandas and re-fix the roofing and once again replace the Bandas well with no gaps in between as it is through these gaps that the waters seeps in. The water remains in these gaps and then slowly finds its way down.
An Inter-Village competition was held during the month of Mahe Ramadhan.
The Quran competitions had been held between 3 centres, namely: Jimba, Mwanjama and Chiferi. To award the winners and recognize the participants, a ceremony was organized at Jimba on Sunday 11th October 2009.
Mwanjama's mosque is in a fairly better
state however it is the classroom that requires urgent attention.
As the pictures will show, there is no proper floor and water seeps in through
the "open-windows" and roof. Students sometimes have to sit outside
the classrooms due to lack of space.
Also
another requirement here are water tanks near the mosque. There is alot more we can do to aid this humble cause but it is the lack of
funds that is our main obstacle.
At Jimba, the mosque is in shambles and needs to be re-built. The classroom's roof too, ( indicated in the picture ) needs to be fixed. The same goes with the Malims house ( Malim Msafir) which is in a sorry state as well.
We therefore need donations to fund these projects to facilitate the needs of the people there
